Exhaust system

Hello everybody,

Can anyone tell me where I might get an exhaust system for my 1947 16 six light please? I know Meteor Spares don't supply them (why not?). I discovered today some perforation on the tail pipe. I've filled the holes with Gun Gum as a temporary measure but know that the tail pipe, and probably the entire system should be replaced.

Thanks, Alan

Mike Evans used to supply stainless exhausts for P2 cars, I'm not sure if he still does. If not and you can give them your old one as a sample, then www.pdgough.com/ will probably make stainless parts, they made the complete system for my 16/50 from the originals.

Thanks Stewart,

I'll give Goughs a ring tomorrow.

Hope the weather's good in the Lake District, it's very pleasant down here in Dorset.

Best wishes, Alan

Best of luck Alan. I'm in the middle of the North Sea at the moment and I've just been snowed on, again!

I too had a perforated exhaust and was able to get it MIG welded at a body repair shop. Its quite interesting how the welder can patch a system with mild steel pieces . Even if it doesn't last forever it can be a reasonable cost item as opposed to robbery with violence as is the unfortunate trend these days with classic car renovations.

Thanks Peter,

That's a good idea. Having just spent £1300 plus on some interior work I'd rather not have to spend another £550 or so for a new S/S system.
