My 38 10 has 18" wheels. I think most others were 17" though but someone may be able to correct me!

I believe that all 1938 cars were fitted with 17" wire wheels, with the 1937 cars, 10 & 12
were fitted with 18" wire wheels and 14, 16, 20 were fitted with 17" wire wheels.
Then in 1939 they introduced 17" full steel wheels.

That's interesting. Mine is registered as a 37 but the plate on the bulkhead says it's a 38 model and according to Mike evans the bracket for the steering box is the 38 type.
Lots to learn!

Hi Vince, Rovers model year started in September of the previous year, so they will have been making 1938 cars from September 1937. If your car was registered after September 1937 then it is likely to be a 1938 model.

Our P2 16 was registered 1.12.38 being a 39 model with I understand optional wire wheels (17")

Gentlemen, please consider, not withstanding the above comments, all of these cars are over
70 years old, they have probably gone through countless owners, who in some cases may have
chosen to to change the rims from steel to wire wheels and from 17" >>> 18" which would mean
the top speed would increase slightly and the fuel consumption reduce by a small margin. As
most of the Companies records held @ Helen Street were lost during the bombing raids that
flattened many parts of Coventry during WW2, for sure, all we are left with in the way of factual
information is in the form of old Sales Brochures and Salesmans Pocket Books. Good examples
of these can be found on the following website under the tab marked "Brochures"
