Asbestos in doors -advice needed

In the near future I will be starting the restoration of my 1938 "10"
All of the door bottoms will need repair, some more than others.
My main concern is how to safely deal with the asbestos sound deadening which was sprayed onto the inside of the doors (it's still there unfortunately)
We'll need to cut out the bottom section, and I am concerned about disturbing the lining.
Can anyone who has carried out this work (must be a common repair on most cars?) give me some tips on how to do the repairs safely. I have thought about spraying the inside of the doors with strong spray adhesive or similar before we start.
Or do I need to seek specialist advice??
Any tips and advice would be welcome - there must be others in a similar position?
Thanks
Phil
