Sticky gears

I pulled on to my drive today and my '39 14 got stuck in third. Gear lever was stuck solid. I removed the remote control housing. Control shaft was able to move freely. Couldn't see anything wrong. Put it all back together and it seemed OK. Put it in reverse to turn round and it got stuck in reverse. Had all the housing, shaft and selector arm off, still couldn't find anything wrong. Put it all back together again and all seemed fine. Took it for a short run, all OK. Will try a longer run tomorrow. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks luli. So are you saying that the control shaft needs to be lowered slightly in relation to the gearbox? I'm not sure how to do that. I have noticed that the bolt on top selector arm has been rubbing on the underside of the inspection plate. All advice gratefully received but keep it simple please as I'm not very technically minded

OK having re-read the thread it seems I need to raise the gearbox a bit. I think I understand. Will have a go later.

Bodged it by shoving a couple of bits bent Meccano down either side of the gearbox. Seems to have lifted it just enough. Will go for a more permanent fix eventually.
