Hello there

Great picture of your 1939 Tickford Drop Head Coupe, I assume you have been in touch with Dirk re valuation!!

Meantime I maintain the Pre 1950 Archive data base for the Rover Sports Register which contains the history and details of several of these Tickford drop heads and yours may be among them??. I also have a copy the Rover Company's build schedule for the cars, which give that date they went to Tickfords for the bodywork and very often the first owners details. If you are interested in receiving any info/history we may have I need the following info from you to check your car out :-

1) The UK registration number, assuming it was originally registered here??
2) The chassis number, for a 1939 car this is a 6 figure number beginning with a 9+++++, and will be found on a brass plate under the bonnet on the bulkhead of the car about level with the top of the engine, it should also be shown on the registration document/log book.

Any queries please come back to me, I await your news with interest.

Kind regards
Andrew McGovern

We suspect that this Rover drophead coupe is the 16 hp model with registration No (British) HPE842 , chassis No 961218. This was in Aberdeen city, during 1980/81, it was white, and with its original brown leather interior, and fitted with a P4 6 cyl engine. The owner at that time was Cameron Mitchel, who ran e type Jags, and subsequently sold and it went to North America.
For more information/ guidance on values one would need more detailed photographs and information on the restoration and history of the car.

Please note I have owned a P2 drophead coupe (1940 model 14hp) for 30 years and have some experience of the Tickford Rovers.
