Rover P3 Radiator Grill Finish !!

Hi,
I have seen many pictures of P3 on the internet and have seen that many of the radiator grills are chrome plated and the louvers are painted and in many cars the entire grill is plated.

How was it originally ?

thanks for your quick reply, which now brings me to 2 questions.
1) what should I do, Paint the louvers or get the entire grill plated?

2) if paint, then what should be the colour?

Hi Kartik,

If it were me I would remove the louvers (they are held in with small bolts), paint the louvers and plate the surround. As far as I could tell when I did mine tell the louvers should be light grey but I don't know the official colour spec.

I've seen louvres in many different colours, cream, grey and silver seem to be the most common

looking at the condition of the louvers it would be difficult to get a good finish in plating,
so I think it would be best to paint them. I would remove the louvers and get them painted.
confused between silver and grey.

My P3 parts list is in the P3, which has not been at home for many months. However I am hoping to collect it later today. I'll see if there any clues in the parts list.

All the p3's I've seen in person have all had the grill slats painted silver.

My P2 grill was silver when I bought the car, ut looked too light so I changed the colour to Rover Stone Grey which looks much better IMO

I've now got my hands on my parts list. It only lists the stoneguard once so presumably it was only available in one colour. I think Rover Stone Grey looks right.
