p3 16" wheels how wide

my p3 is fitted with 17" wheels these are 3.5" wide. are the 16" wheels the same width or wider and has anyone got any spare there not using cheers

As far as I know, they are the same width. Whilst later p3s were fitted with 16 inch wheels, all were fitted with crossply tyres, so the suspension is designed and set up for crossplies.

The nominal dimensions of P3 tires are 17X5.5. That means that the tire width is 5.5 inches and the wheel diameter is (17 +5.5X2)= 28 inches. A 16 inches wheel with the same width (16X5.5) would have 27 inches diameter. For the correct diameter a wider tire is required: 16X6.0 - which is a very common tire.

thanks for the replys iam trying to find a set of wheels that i could run modern radial tyres on ive fitted modern diesel engine and box but finding it hard to find wheels i bought some taxi 16inch steels same stud and center bore but wrong offset wont fit. anyone know of any other wheels that fit cheers
