Thank you so much for the reply and info. I'm working on ordering the manual for the p3 but will take a while to get to the states. I have an original p4 manual but I know they very from the p3 in a number of ways. Once I started research on the carb I was pretty sure it's not original but the 1950's mercedes 220 is almost exactly the same engine displacement. Just trying to figure out the mystery.

Not many P3's to the square mile over there! BUT I saw one advertised in Hemmings recently...a LHD originally exported to Canada for sale in Georgia for $18,000. My guess is that your carburettor was probably fitted as a "nearest available" by a PO. I don't know enough about carburettors to know whether a bigger choke diameter will make a positive or negative difference! Probably better larger than smaller!
You can take the jets out to see what sizes are stamped on them & unless you are unlucky the gaskets will come off intact! If you cannot find a gasket kit I will check it out at the Restoration show here at the end of March. The RSR stores may have a carburettor....

Sadly just got info back from state records and they only go back to 1986 but no records before that point. Everything I see has me convinced it's a English car that was imported later but my trial has gone cold now.

If your car was an export model the chassis number would have started with the letter R

with it being a RHD vehicle and the GB badge I'm going to say that it most likely was first registered in the UK
