Taken from another forum I was looking for some information regarding the "ROVER" lettering on this P3 boot lid.

I have never seen anything like this before and wondered if there are any other boot lids with the same

Really unusual - not even the period Rover font - perhaps it was an experimental design from the mid 1940's? Would need extra tooling which for a short run would not have been worth the cost and effort?

I haven't ever seen that before. Somehow just doesn't seem quite right to me.

This is the car in question, if you zoom in you can just about make out the letters

The chassis at the back is differant as well it seems to extend out the back and the wheels seem smaller than a standard P3.
joking aside Rover was playing around with ideas for the P3 like the full width front end etc so as you say it could be part of that experimental period, is there any way to tell how early the P3 is in the production order if its an early one then there's a good chance that they were using up some of the experimental bits on production cars.

If its registered as a 47 P3 60 then its got to be a pre production car which could explane the odd boot script, correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know the P3 were only built in 1948 and 1949 if that's the case and it is a 1947 car it could be a very important car being maybe the oldest P3 still around
