Looking for ASN 625

Post by 47p2 » Wed Mar 02, 2011 10:40 am

A friend has contacted me regarding a ASN 625, a P3 (he thinks it was but unsure) that he owned in the 1960s.
He sold the car in late 1965 to a farmer in Montgarrie (Aberdeenshire)
He could not afford the petrol and the rear main bearing was seeping oil onto the clutch. He visited the farm a couple of years later and was distressed to find the car sitting out, doors wide open, being used as a chicken coop.

According to the DVLA website it has a P2 engine

Date of Liability...................01 10 2011
Date of First Registration......01 05 1948
Year of Manufacture.............1948
Cylinder Capacity (cc)..........2147CC
Fuel Type...........................Petrol
Vehicle Status.....................Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour.....................BLACK

Is this car on the RSR database? Does anyone know where the car is now?

Hi there
Yes the car is on the pre 1950 RSR archive database, but only recently.
It is currently owned by a member in Banbury who who joined in 2009 and he describes it as a Black 1948 75 saloon with Brown interior, however no other details except speedo reading 1,200 miles!!.
I also have a note that it was owned by a Mr D Thomson of Dufftown, Banffshire in the 1960's, he was not a member so don't know where this info came from, out of interest is this your friend???

Regards
Andrew McGovern Pre 1950 RSR archivist

Hi Andrew,

Many thanks you for that information. Mr D Thomson is not my friend, I wonder if this was who he sold the car too in 1965. I will pass on the information and let you know
