Brake fluid reservoir

Post by OldFogey55 » Wed Aug 22, 2018 5:25 am

Folks, this is a two-part question.
I have a 1951 P4 75. I have a parts book only for a 1954/1955 P4 (ie third edition).

For the brake fluid reservoir, the part book shows the following components:
- SUPPLY TANK ASSEMBLY (ie reservoir) part 233206
- Filler cap for supply tank part 260819
- Gasket for filler cap part 260820

Question Part 1 - can anyone with a 1951 parts book confirm that the parts numbers are the same?
Question Part 2 - can anyone recommend/identify a supplier in the UK from whom I could source these parts? (I'm coming to the UK in November, so I aim to pick up the bits then)

As regards part numbers, yes, But... the Master parts list (19th edition) gives the part number supercessions and 233206 supercedes to 271581 (Series1 or 2 Landrover brake fluid tank)

These are a common Girling part and there are plenty about, although they are most likely new reproductions. For brakes, a new tank is preferable to a new old stock item imo.

John Craddock of Cannock, Staffordshire and Dingocroft of High Wycombe will both supply a tank with lid/ gasket.
see:- https://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/searc ... &sb=Search
and https://www.dingocroft.co.uk/acatalog/S ... ml#a271581

also John Wearing https://www.johnwearingp4parts.co.uk/pr ... rod=271581 He will also supply the correct transfer or sticker for the tank.

Hope all this helps
Mike
