Hi guys
Forgive me for swearing but I own a 1970 late S2a swb Land Rover that I have just completed a 3 year ground up restoration on inc a 200tdi engine conversion as well, the gearbox is a fully recon'd unit fitted with an Ashcroft HRTC ( High Ratio Transfer Case ) and Range Rover 3.54-1 diffs, the landy Is not on the road yet but have tried it up and down a private road and the gearing seems quite over geared which I slightly expected.

Now a few years ago I had another S2a with the same drive train setup but with std 4.7-1 diffs and although the gearing was great for town work, towing and climbing hills on a motorway it felt as though it needed another gear and i was going to fit 3.54-1 diffs but never got round to it but when I was restoring this one I decided to fit 3.54-1 diffs but now wishing I hadn't and wondering if the Rover p4 4.3-1 diffs will fit and do what I want them to do, i'm thinking comparing to 4.7-1 diffs they/it will slightly step the gearing up slightly so shouldn't effect setting off, climbing hills and towing much but should be better on the motorway, what do you think and if so are the 4.3-1 diffs easy to get hold of :)

4.3:1 and 3.9:1 diffs were fitted to P4s and should fit the axle casings. Try Barry Kent (he is in Norfolk) for the diffs.
