Have you tried Scotts Old Auto Rubber for the quarterlight seals?

On a P6B that I had, there was an angle-iron gadget that sat over the battery with two eyes for bolts to pass through. I can't remember where the bolts anchored though. I am sure that a bit of modifying of an off the shelf battery clamp will solve your problem.
