Hi,
I need help in constructing a complete silencer ( exhaust system ) for my P3.
Basically I need help with the measurements and pictures and if someone can post pictures
of the inside of the muffler, would be very grateful.
thanks

Is there an old silencer in the club shop or anyone has a spare,
even one in a bad condition would be of help.

If you are unable to get the original specs for the exhaust layout for your car I would suggest going to a firm that specializes in custom exhausts. Such firms have off-the-shelf stainless steel silencers and I would always use stainless now, if done properly it is fit once and forget about it. Most cars the age of yours had one single long silencer, most of the stainless steel silencers are not long enough as a direct replacement. A stainless steel exhaust system is usually slightly noisier than the original, which can be irritating. I have found the fitting two silencers, each as long as possible with a good gap in between, work very well. I always fit straight through silencers. I had to make my own silencer for a 1915 car recently, as there was nothing available with a large enough internal bore size, this cost around £200 for materials and work.
One firm I have found that do custom exhausts is Power and Performance (http://powerandperformance.co.uk/), another I found when I was searching was doing special offers on silencers - it is worth looking round in your area.
