Help on the Forum

Chis mentioned the Nesthill pipe clips, which were to the original pattern. It is good that people post useful sources on the Forum. I found a source of Nesthill type clips to a modern pattern and made in stainless steel, of course you need to get the right size clip for the job because they only accommodate a limited amount of adjustment, these came from Walker Engineering in Norwich. I recently needed some rubber boot ball joint covers and found a firm, Advantage Auto Parts (www.advantageautoparts.co.uk/‎), who do ball joint covers in large medium and small sizes that cover most types of ball joint. They are inexpensive, mine came to £2.80 each. I know your pre-1960 vehicles don't need an MOT but people do drive around with these dust covers perished, which is irresponsible because this results in excessive wear and eventual failure of the joint. Damaged or perished covers are now an MOT failure. I always ensure that my pre-60s cars come up to MOT standards and get the garage to test them anyway.
