Hello Everyone,

For those who don't know I regularily spend time in Cyprus as I have a house here. I am here at the moment and last week I was taken by a local resident I met to a shed in a village in the hills. On opening the shed, the owner pointed to a chassis and parts under a blanket which has turned out to be an MG J2 1933 cycle wing model, dismantled but complete. I am currently in negotiations and I am hoping to repatriate to the UK.

Not a Rover, but part of the ' family ' .

Chris

Negotiations completed, I have been successfull. I have since discovered that the car was bought in 1960 by Michael Bird who dismantled the car to transport to Cyprus and never got round to putting it back together. He died last year aged 70 and his widow just wanted it removed.

The car is complete and the chassis is bare, as far as I can see everything is there, the car is still registered in England ( amazingly ) so all parts will need to be repatriated to the UK...I will need some large suitcases !!

Cyprus is an amazing place..all the scrap yards are full of just post war cars ie 1950s + . Cyprus has this policy that all cars registered when put back on the road have to pay back car tax from the time it came off the road, so a car off the road ( even a classic ) say in 2000 would attract a road tax bill of 12x 200 euros, 2400 euros which is more than the car is worth in many cases.

Now what else can I find !

Chris
