six cylinder tourer

Does anyone know the story behind the tourer currently advertised on ebay? Its description is "rover p2 tourer 1939 straight six". It appears to be a pre war chassis with a post war tourer body with the chassis "fully restored" and the body in pieces.

There's not really much to it, a good project if you have plenty time on your hands

Click

The registratuon number does not show up on the DVLA website which makes it tricky to have it registered with that number

Hello there

According to the RSR archive database which I maintain this 1947 12 tourer with registration HOW 143 has been in the RSR on and off since 1979 with 4 different owners until 2005 when it was bought by a chap in Newcastle who never joined the RSR. The first owner back in 1979 advised it had been involved in a major accident prior to his ownership and was a major restoration job, I understand he saw it on a low loader on it's way to a breakers yard in North Wales instantly realised what car it was so he followed the low loader and succeeded in buying it. The next 3 owners all described the car as in need of major restoration and seems nothing very much was done!!.

The chap in Newcastle spoke with me on the phone circa 2009 asking if we had any history on the car, he said he was rebuilding the car on the chassis and running gear of a 1939 14 saloon he owned whose body had been written off in a fire. He said he would join the RSR but never did and nothing further heard of the car until it's recent appearance on ebay.

Hope this is of some help
