To Update : Its been a while since I reported on my archive of the 1935 year model 10hps ( of which I own two ). At the moment the number recorded stands at nine positive with ownership, chassis no. etc details and three possibles with registration number only. One of these I spotted for sale on ebay last June registration number ASV 299 maroon/black. The other two possibles are ABP 458 and BOC 14.

I spotted a luggage rack for sale on ebay with the reg no. DAR 949 still attached...no car , just the rack...can only presume the car was scrapped or renumbered. The item was listed as from a 1935 Rover 10.

I am now in touch with the earliest car owner of this year, Derek Field. The chassis number is 501198, reg no. DG 9839, I am not sure that Derek is a member. We have met and discussed relative issues of our cars restorations, Derek is part way through an intensive restoration..I have yet to visit and view the car.

If there are any other Rover 10s out there from the 1935 year model range, hopefully you would like to get in touch. There could be around another twenty odd cars still about, with three overseas and ten under various states of restoration already known.

I have details of a Rover 10 six light saloon in California, USA, which is advertised as a 1934 car, but is in fact a 1935 model. The car looks in very good condition and is very keenly priced.

One more for the archive, I can give more details if anyone is interested.

Hi Andrew,

The car is for sale in the USA. The chassis number is 502719 and the car was brought to California on December 7 1976. the car has been garaged its entire time it has been there and has had only two owners during the past 38 years. The current owner is elderly and is now unable to maintain the car. The car is for sale at $13,500 , which is a very keen price for a lovely looking 10.

My only reservation is that its advertised as a ' 34 ' car, which would date its original registration Sept - December 1934, but the car is only nine away from my ' Denzel ' which is a 29 June 1935 registration,. The USA car's original registration number ( which is still attached ) is JT 3623....Denzel's original number ( now lost ) was JB 6729..so I suspect that this car is in fact a later 1935 car, rather than the advertised ' 34 one, the model of course would be the same.

The car was imported to California 38 years ago by notable Hollywood composer Elmer Bernstein as a gift for his wife in Santa Barbara. The colour scheme is burgundy / black and is original ( unrestored ), apparently needs a new head gasket but does run and drive. The current elderly owner has owned the car since 1996.

Regards, Chris
