Dear All
Todays project was to get the 34 Sports Saloon running. The battery has been mounted in the engine compartment in the panelled boxes, as distinct from under the rear seat in the saloon. Can anyone tell which is correct?

Anyway, removed the battery ( Lincon 291/11), and inner housing cracked and swollen, possible over heating ( engine compartment or over charging or otoo low fluids) so it has to go. Does anyone have experience of a particular brand and capacity for this model

How old is the battery (date code on battery) ?
What is the manufacturer's warranty ?
When was the battery acid level last checked ?
When the car was used last, was the amp meter showing that the battery was overcharging ?
Are the lead plates inside the battery buckled ? What colour is the battery acid ?
These are some of the other questions you need to consider.

Can't comment on position of battery, as don't know battery position detail for this model / year.

Best of luck, hope you sort it out.

Sports Saloon 1934 would have had the battery under the rear seat, ( passenger ) near side. I have seen a few Rovers with the battery mounted in the engine bay but this was an after thought exercise to assist with access, and to shorten the supply cable.
