steering

hello thanks for letting me in I have bought a 1946 12 although the car is in great condition the steering is impossible to turn you couldn't drive it like it is
I disconnected the steering arms from the actual box and it is still hard to turn .and when I did drive the car it was clover the road .does anybody know what my next steps should be or where I can the box refurbished I am in the Manchester area any help would be great

Hi Dex,

Re steering box, a good person to contact would be Calum Barrow. I contacted him with a view to refurbishing my 12 Tourer box last year and he clearly knew all about P1/P2/P3 worm and nut steering and has huge experience with Series 1 Land Rovers. As it turned out i didn't get around to taking the box out of my car, but I think I will this coming winter and Calum will be my first port of call. He is an RSR member and his email address is cbarrowengineering@gmail.com

For king pins, i'd suggest contacting Mike Evans or Mike Cauldry (Meteor Spares). You will need to source a reamer to fit them.
