1946 P2 10 HP - Air Filter

Post by Peter Nieto » Mon Jan 07, 2013 5:22 pm

Can any one let me have a photo of the air filter as fitted. My car did not have one when I acquired it. I now have what is supposed to be the correct item and swan neck, but can't figure out how they fit. The RSR manuals do not help.

Actualy, the original filter is not effective in removing dust. Look here for possible modification:

Barry Foster is a pre-war MMM ( MG ) supplier. He is retailing remanufactured MG TA air cleaner canisters, which look remarkably similar to the Rover ones. They just need a dip in cleaning fluid and allowed to dry every 2000 miles or so, I will be looking on his stand at Beaulieu this year, taking a sample to match.

Many thanks for your help, my problem is that, the Swan Neck I obtained has a different spigot diameter to the solex carb I/D amd O/D, also the Rocker Box Breather fixing stud had been sawn off, however, i'm in the process of making an adapter. I assume that the support strip for the Filter fixes on the breather stud.
