HI, thought that i'd better go through the formality of introducing myself.
I'm a long time Rover owner, but never really got into the clubs. Previously had a couple of early 60's P6 2000's (where my Rover obsession started) a 90's 3.9 Range Rover and an 84' 110 station wagon. But i've just realised a long held dream to own a late 30's sports saloon, so whilst the others have been fun this one is for long term keeps.
Also got a 64' series 2a SWB (and a mid 90's MR2 T-Bar auto but i guess you won't want to mention that one!).

The 12 has just come out of long-term hibernation today since being laid up in the 60's, but sadly although it is a barn-find the condition is pretty poor - see pics. Don't know if anyone recalls AVH 675 but that would be a long time a go.

As it's such a big project i'm determined to keep a detailed record of the work. I'm used to using the internet for all manner of info and guidance - bit worried about the lack of detailed restorations for this age of Rover though, even on this site. So i hope that you guys are going to be able to keep me on the straight and narrow as this seems quite a project and i solemnly promised the last owner (former RSR member now in his late 80's) that i would bring the car back to it's former glory. I have a feeling this could take some time though as finances mean this has to be a 99% home restoration.

Have sent in the electronic subscription a week or so ago so just waiting to hear from the RSR.

Thanks, Richard.

Welcome Richard, I'm sure you will get plenty of support here. Your car is not known to the DVLA so I would suggest you gather evidence and start the process of retaining your number plate, if you want to keep it, before someone else bags it as a private number. It does not appear to be on the RSR database either, certainly not the on-line version anyway, although it may have been registered with the club many years ago. There are a couple of members on this forum who might be able to tell you more if it ever was known to the club.

Regards

Thanks to both of you.

I've started the ball rolling with the DVLA, they've sent me the forms. The previous owners was an RSR member in the mid 90's i believe, if he wasn't previously since his ownership in the late 50's. I have the green log book and lots of correspondence/evidence going back to the 50's. So i hope the club will be able to assist.
I have sent in the electronic membership details but haven't heard a week or so later - is there anyone i can email to start the ball rolling on getting the club's confirmation of the car's identity as i know the DVLA will require this?

Just put another post on the P1/P2 section as i'm keen to start planning the restoration but don't want to leap in and make mistakes that others have already learnt from.

Assuming there are P1/P2 owners in the South East, does anyone know of a regular meet or chance to harass an owner at home even! - perhaps i should put another post up for this query in that section.

Richard

Hi Richard,

Your RSR liason with DVLA is Lyn Thomas, his contact details are in the front cover of your Freewheel when you get it.

Hi I've just checked our archive and AVH 675 is known to the club. We can help with the application for the number to be reallocated.
