David Moseley travels

Post by 36t46s » Fri May 29, 2009 12:11 am

Hello from Newcastle,

Those of you who ventured north of Watford to the 2005 National Rally at Raby Castle had a good time, I believe. We shall be driving to the NTPR and the National this year (2009) and have just returned from the excellent SARR rally at Thirlestane Castle.

Last year (2008) we went on Ian Glass's Scandinavian tour to Hell and back, as these pictures show:

Last year's Scottish trips also included Glamis and Grantown-on-Spey.

My 12 tourer was bought in bits in 1972 and MOT'd in 2001 and has now completed 14,000 miles (as measured by its recalibrated chronometric speedo). A new radiator core has made the world of difference, as the original honeycomb type was not up to hill-climbing and she boiled twice in Norway as we got up to 6000ft.

My first car was a 1946 10hp and I still have it, together with the club's burnt valve award from a Lakes' Rally. Thanks, Mike!

Cheers!

Well done David, good to see cars being used for more than just local events. I'm going to NTPR in two weeks, probably driving the P3 now that it burns more petrol than oil. I am hoping to MOT the 16/50 this week and am tempted to take that but it has not done enough miles for me to be confident in it yet. It would have to go on the trailer, so it will probably be the P3.

Hope to see at the Lakes in September,

Regards
