Thirlestane Castle Champion of Champions 2009
Thirlestane Castle Champion of Champions 2009
I'm going to this event on Sunday so keeping my fingers and toes crossed that the weather stays as it has been the last few days.
After winning the SARR Championship last weekend I decided that I really should start preparing for the Champion of Champions, an event I won Best in Class for 2 years ago, so an intensive polishing schedule has been put into action.
Tilly was restored 26 years ago and will be up against cars which are only just out of the paintshop so this will be a tough event.
I thought you might like to see a few pictures of her now that she is ready for Sundays event

Yes, every time I log on there are more to delete, I spend more time getting rid of these pests than reading the proper posts. Never mind, had a good day out in the P3 yesterday, about 120 miles without missing a beat and presently trying to get the 16/50 to start, without a single beat! Such are the joys of vintage motoring! Must get back to the garage.

Manual authorisation at least means that you can kill their accounts before they post. In the long run, it's less work (it's what we use on my 800 forum).

John,
I thought Tilly was looking pretty darn good at the SARR, so best of luck at the weekend.

Thanks Paul, Wish I'd met you at SARR

Not done anything underneath and I certainly have no desire to remove the oil which has gathered on the nether regions over the years as it certainly helps keep the tinworm at bay, so this is how the old girl looks

Finally finished the engine bay today and I must admit it is looking a heck of a lot better. The exhaust manifold paint which I've had for a while and used on Tilly before was a horrible light grey/silver colour so with a little black mixed into it, I think it's looking a lot smarter
The worst thing about this part is trying to keep it all looking like it was done 26 years ago, unless I wanted to redo the whole lot(which I don't). Black paint fades a lot so touching up small parts is extremely difficult
