Hardened Valve Seats

I am looking for Rover P2 hard exhaust valve seats, for converting the engine head to lead free petrol. The outer diameter of the valve is 1-17/64 inch (1.265 inch = 32.14 mm), and the angle is 30 degrees. Actually, Rover P3, and many P4 and P5 and Series Landrovers used exhaust valves of the same diameter but with 45 degrees angle. My questions:
Who can supply the correct seats, made out of Stellite or better advanced materials?
Has anybody modified successfully a 45 degrees seat into 30 degrees?
There are some ONS seats on eBay for the above cars. Are they hardened, suitable for lead free operation?

HI Luli,

I came across this http://www.hthoward.co.uk/engine-machin ... t-inserts/ and it backs up what I discussed with the Manager of a machine shop specialising in unleaded conversions. The Seats can be cut to accept any valve seat angle.

Hope this helps

Mike

I bought my valves, insert seats from Mike Evans, some years ago, fitted by my local machine shop. Chris
