Rover 1946 Sports Saloon

I've just bought a 1946 P2 Rover sports saloon - an impulseas buy I learnt to drive and took my test in a 1947 Saloon.

Its reg No is ESG 475 and its vehicle no is 6330027

Ihave not collected it yet and will be doing so in the near future.

It's all fairly complete except for the engine which has be stripped and has parts missing.

What I wanted to know was whether in the short term, I could fit a P4 engine and gearbox to get it on the road.

I tried to restore two P3 sports saloons about 10 years ago but had to sell them when made redundant.
I spent too much time trying to make them first class and missed the joy of driving them. I would be interested to find out how they have progressed. They had chassis numbers just over 100 apart and were 1948 reg. I sold them to a gentleman in Hawkhurst Kent who Irecently found out only sold them on a couple of years ago to somebody in the North of England. They now have been sold on to somebody in West London or thereabouts. I would love to know how they are progressing.

Any help with the engine question would be appreciated.

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum.

I'm pretty sure the P4 engine will not be an easy fit into a P2.

If you post the registration numbers of your P3s someone in the RSR should be able to help with where they are today

WHat parts of the engine are missing? The RSR may have some spares or be able to reccommend a supplier
