1934 Rover 12 Fuel supply
Good morning Im changing the old fuel filters on the petrol pipe has anyone fitted a filter on the end of the pipe which does into the tank. Its only a small opening for the pipe to go through, but knowing the car is 86 years old I doubt if its as clean as it should be I had to seal off the one pipe,as the reserve tap had seized up. Len

Re: 1934 Rover 12 Fuel supply
If its any help here are the components from when I made a replacement dip pipe filter for my P2 using some brass mesh. The theory was right but my soldering skills are appalling. The top of the filter was drilled from an old penny as you will see. It is a tight fit through the hole into the tank and it is difficult to solder the filter rigidly onto the dip pipes, so needs installing gently so as not to have it drop into the tank. I am sure someone could suggest a more secure method of fixing

Hi Len
My second reserve tank unit is off the car at present waiting for me to replace the ball bearing which doesnt seal too well so I have been able to measure it. The dip pipes are 7mm OD. The slight shoulder on the reserve unit body which just sits into the hole in the tank is 47.2 dia but I suspect the actual aperture in the tank may be sa fraction more. Hope this helps
regards
