I have recently acquired a 1937 Rover 12 Sports Saloon (FPD 357), which I am advised was previously owned by Terry Priestley in the 1970’s and 80’s, and this is my first Rover for I am very much in a voyage of discovery.
The car appears to be in good running order with excellent bodywork and interior, so it looks like any works required are merely minor, apart from ensuring she drives as best she can. So I have a few questions relating to areas that I may wish to improve the interior, as follows:
1. Was the lettering on the dashboard knobs (e.g. Mixture and Throttle) originally in white?
2. If so does anybody have any tips on how to try to restore such (i.e. hand painting etc)?
3. Any tips for dealing with moth holes in the rear compartment quarter panels of the headlining?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Interior Improvements
Hi this was Terry's "Siegfried Farnon " car.
The Dashboard lettering is white paint. Try using a round tipped fine hypodermic needle to fill the letters.
The headlining is union cloth. You might try wool felting-see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vBODmr_TZE
hope this helps

Re: Interior Improvements
Yes indeed, I only found out after acquiring it. Adrian Mitchell was kind enough to give me Terry's phone number, but I have yet to ring him to get the full story as I would very much like to understand the cars full history; especially as it appears to have only done ~6,500 miles but has had an engine change (1940 engine fitted).
I have had a go at refreshing the lettering on the knobs using white acrylic paint and then polishing back the paint using a magic eraser to remove any excess and give a slightly worn appearance.
Thnaks for the tip on the felting method, but might be a bit of a challenge trying that with the headlining insitu but worth a go.
