I have both the original rad cap and one spare that I found at an autojumble which I ground down ( the central fin ) and bolted a brass vikings head on after drilling and tapping the head ( which is solid ) and securing with brass bolts - I used six. The head has not been plated, and looks very vintage with the brass patina - I have wired the cap on...they are attractive to the light fingered. Best of luck.

The RSR sold an aluminium alloy anodised head in the 70s being a copy of the Hawkins Trophy which was a genuine Rover product of 1929.
These can be identified as they are all numbered underneath! Many aftermarket venders sold versions in the 30s. Many later ones are solid
brass and the weight will ensure damage/loss if used while driving. These latter copies are likely to be copies of copies and the quality will be poor.
There are significant problems in the choice of alloy and the making of moulds for sand casting which affect the end quality. Use of the correct alloy
and proper anodising give a good durable result.
