Rover SD1

Post by SallySD1 » Sat Feb 13, 2010 7:36 pm

Hello. My name is Sally and I am the events organiser for the Rover SD1 club. I decided to join this forum after meeting some RSR members today. Forums are a great way for clubs to keep in touch, so if you have any events that you think will interest other Rover clubs please contact me. Here is a picture of my car which is my every day car, and got taken out in the snow on purpose when everyone else has theirs tucked up in a nice warm garage!

Hello Sally.
Welcome to the forum. You have a very nice looking Series 1 SD1 there. They certainly seem to be getting thinner on the ground these days, then again that can be said of all SD1's I think.

If you look on the main RSR site there is a list of the clubs events. I am running two this year, and any SD1 owners would be very welcome to come and join us.

I am not sure if there aren't many SD1 owners on the RSR forum, or whether they have just kept quiet in the background.
For those interested in comparing a Series 1 to a late Series 2 here is a picture of my Vitesse TP which I have owned for about 15 months.

Hi Dirk,
No this one didn't ever get as far as ebay, it came from the father of a friend of mine at work. I had known about it for about seven years and had been told that if / when it went up for sale I would get first refusal. Initially I turned it down but in the end I just couldn't turn it away. The previous owner had it from about 2 years old so had it for about 20 years, it was originally owned by Rover who put quite a good mileage on within its first year. He had a body restoration done on it in 2001 for his 70th birthday. It is still fairly tidy but inevitably needs some more bits sorting out now. Here's a rear view of it...complete with body coloured rear spoiler - I haven't ever seen another one with this treatment, but the previous owner has assured me that it has always been like this so perhaps it was a factory special.
