New to the forum

Post by RovingJoel » Wed Jul 24, 2013 6:56 pm

Hi All,

I recently purchased my 1936 10hp saloon and joined the club but have only just got around to joining the forum (although I've read a few posts with interest).

Welcome Joel, please tell us a few details about your car, maybe even post a photo or two?

Hi,

Sorry it's taken a while to respond.

I can say very little about the car unfortunately. I have no history with it other than it was "restored" by by its 4th owner (I'm number 6). Generally it's in very good condition and I've seen worse restoration jobs but I've also seen better. Mechanics are all sound but I'm slowly working my way around tweaking so to speak. The chassis lube system is completely missing and I intend on reinstating that. I've just picked up a complete system off ebay which looks pretty good. (I'll be asking for advice on that one later!)

The parts of the interior that have been replaced have been done badly especially the head lining. Again I'd love to get this rectified.

The car is unfortunately not on it's original plate and that's why the history is vague if none existent. However, I'd be very keen on trying to find out it's original registration number and then hopefully some history but I have no idea where to start. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, I've poped a few few pictures on photobucket. The links are below.

Look forward to gaining some knowledge from the forum.

Thanks

Welcome Joel, if you post the VIN number then the club may be able to help if the car has ever been registered with the club in the past under it's original registration number.

247UXA used to be registered BDG50. That number is now on a Ford Transit connect.

The RSR has known of the car since 2005, when the owner lived in Ledbury, In 2010 a second owner from North Somerset joined with the car when the speedo reading was 54,800. As far as we know, the car was sold on the Classic car website in June '12.

Hope that this helps

Best regards

Mike

Wow Mike!

Thank-you, that's a great start. I've literally just filled in a vehicle information request to send to DVLA. Hopefully they will oblige and I can find some more info. I think it might have been the Ledbury owner who restored the car. I have MOT certificates dating back to 2007 with it in its present colours and the earlier ones of these were issued in Ledbury. Hopefully I may be able to contact this owner and see if he is willing to give me some information on its history and the renovation.

For the records the cars milage is now 55722.

Thanks again, a great help

Joel

PS Thanks Derrick, I'm sure I will. "Audrey" has already become part of the family!
