Re: 47p2
It was 9 pm on Sunday night and we still had a couple of hours to do... windey old road (50 miles alone!) from Ayr on the 'Galloway Tourist' route to Castle Douglas...
Also we're cut short this week by needing to pay the outlaws a visit in Llandudno from tommorow.
Also it was Edinburgh's turn this time for the 'official' visit: ria via Lockerbie. I'm sure we'll make more time fo glasgow on the next trip.
We can't keep away: this particular cottage has an empty yet commodious garage. Son Joe is spending all of his time out there detailing the cars: we have the Alfa 147 with us [already beneitted from chrome interior door latches all roudn ..] and the Roverr 414 Si (T-plate: wing mirror replacad etc.) which I haven't mentioned before - but it replaced Abigail's Polo which was written-off a month ago (and which incidentally we're rebuilding].
Just got the central exhaust section replaced on the 414 today in Castle Douglas - and yes it has had the HG replaced !!!
Yesterday was spent in Wigtown - second hand booktown: picked up original Leyland TR7 Parts Book and WSM... Not any good Rover books unfortunately... we won't mention Top Gear's really Cr*p Cars and what is says about the 800... or Jaguar XK40 - or RIchard Moss will get upset.

It won't bother me - their loss if they can't see what fine cars they are.Freewheel wrote: won't mention Top Gear's really Cr*p Cars and what is says about the 800... or Jaguar XK40 - or RIchard Moss will get upset. .
I wouldn't want any car that Clarkson liked, anyway!

Rich - it went beefing on about the styling of the XK 40 - and bemoaning the 2.9 lack of performance.
The 800 was panned for panel fit and dashboard issues: though Honda Legend was stated to be immune - I found this odd: didn't rover build for them in the UK?
{OK different parts bins ...]
To 47P2: I should say, in case we were able to drop by, I had with me a pile of P4 sale bochures: including the excellent large format 1955 ('56 model year ) catalogue - from which your signature Rover logo is taken - and my signature illustration - when it arrives...
