P2 Fanbelt Replacement
P2 Fanbelt Replacement
Having taken the radiator off for it to be re-cored (see previous overheating post) I noticed that if I wanted to replace the fan belt it would not pass through the gap between the crankshaft pulley and the chassis. I am fitting new front engine mounts but for the fan belt to pass through the gap I would have to fit 15mm of packing under the new mounts. I have checked the rear mounting which appears standard and OK. Is this a common problem and has anybody any suggestions other than the packing?

Mine seems Ok - it may be that the engine mounts have well settled - Rover bodies/chassis tolerances were measured in inches so I would insert steel packing plates - use large repair washers. Packers were used a lot by Rover Co even for much later models

Mine is also fine, although I did fit new mount rubbers when I bought the car

Re: P2 Fanbelt Replacement
I have used " Brammer Belts" instead of rubber fan belt. It can be used on most vee belt applications. Successfully run in both my 12 hp for two/three years, only downside is they are normally orange or blue, however when running they are a visible safety aide, (when eyesight is getting bad)
