Re: P2 Brakes
Hi Phil, I’ve just re-read your question and I think you are asking about the telescopic rod that goes between the brake pedal and rear brakes, as discussed in my earlier reply at the beginning of this thread from last year. Once removed, this rod slides within the outer and, from memory, I believe ...

Re: P2 Brakes
Hi Phil, If the ‘47 P2 is the same as my ‘37 P2 I believe the rear brake compensator mounted on the rear axle swivels in two planes. I.e the whole thing moves in the vertical plane where it mounts into the axel and bit where the brake rods attach swivel in the horizontal plane. This takes account of...

Re: Rover Meteor clutch
Hi Paul, This makes fascinating reading. I had no idea that Rover was using this type of clutch- possibly up to the P1 in 1934. However, it does answer the original query over there being a brake on the clutch and how to overcome the drag, which makes engaging 1st gear a challenge. Also very interes...

Re: Rover Meteor clutch
Has your car always done this (since you have had it) or is this crunching something new? I have no experience with a Meteor but I doubt your clutch and gearbox are much different to my P1 Rover. My car will frequently, but not always crunch a bit when engaging at standstill, especially if the engin...

Re: 12hp Tourer #110 (the blue one)
Hi David, Have you got your car running properly again and, if so, what was the problem? Reading through your recent posts, the poor running problem sounded slightly familiar to an issue I recently had with my 12 Saloon. Moving it out of the garage to give it a once over before a show, I was annoyed...

Re: fuel tank sender resistance for P2
Thomas, Sounds like your tank sender and moving coil gauge are electrically sound. The fluctuation of the reading at or near empty, I assume, is when you are driving and you don’t say it does this at, say, half or full? As such, it sounds like your issue is mechanical within the tank when the float ...

Re: Rover 12 clutch replacement
Hi Simon, Originally your car would have been fitted with a four finger Roper & Wreak clutch and the smaller release bearing. However, changing to the later post ‘38 clutch was considered a worthwhile upgrade. As Mike says, this requires some changes that might include the flywheel studs/bolts and t...

Re: How remove windscreen motor p2 h10 1937
Hi, My ‘37 P2 has the motor mounted differently but looks very similar in type. Looking at your picture I’d suggest that the black metal surround is probably the mounting and the rusty screws that can be seen at the side hold the motor in place. However, it looks like there is a rubber pad between t...

Re: Electrics leakage/drain - 1937 TEN P2 Can anyone help?
Hi, These cars were originally positive earth and this is shown in the workshop manual. As such, I’d suggest you check the diagrams again. That said, it’s quite possible that it has been converted to negative earth at some point in the last 85 years! I suggest you do some detective work, starting wi...

Re: Gearbox a bit too high
Will, Glad I was able to be of some help. When I re-fitted the engines of both my cars I don’t recall the rubbers being different thicknesses for top and bottom, but my inclination would be to put the thicker at the bottom as that takes the most weight and I’m wondering now if mine are ‘correct’. Of...
