Hello
Someone has in the past took out the Luvax system from my 1948 P2 tourer and installed an external oil filter. Does anybody knew what system that is and where I could get a new oil filter?

The Wipac bypass oil filters (they were fitted to 1950 Rover75 -cyclops) are very difficult to find. Similar but smaller filters (ACzr1) were fitted to some Austin cars.

ZS1 filters were fitted to Series 1 Land Rovers, P3 and late P2 cars.

So…. Does this kit fit an OHV P2 engine? Or just the new generation overhead inlet side exhaust?
Removal of the Luvax automatic lubrication may be a red herring as that only lubricates the chassis and has nothing to do with the engine apart from using manifold pressure/vacuum as it’s power source…

On the subject of replacement oil filters, another solution might be a conversion kit available from J R Wadhams, https://www.jrwadhams.co.uk/product/oil ... -kit-html/
this would convert your adaptor to something that will accept a modern screw on filter unit. It might be just as easy to make an adaptor of your own to fit your original filter mount.
Another idea altogether is to reinstate the Bijur pump and system as intended and fit a Fram bypass filter unit of the type supplied as standard (i believe) on the Rover 20 and available as an aftermarket accessory for other models. The engines are already prepared for this type of external oil filter and it is very similar to the Porsche 356 Bypass unit made by Kaferlab and known as the Fram F3-P type. This uses the OX79 filter which is getting a little harder to find too these days at a reasonable cost. You might also be lucky enough to find a genuine Fram F3 unit via eBay or similar.
The filter unit can be mounted on the left side inner wing but I have mounted mine (14 SS) on the engine itself to minimise the hose length. The car will be perfectly happy without an oil filter but will really benefit from a good functioning Bijur system.
