It's going to be a very sad goodbye to my 1948 P3 75 Sports. It needs work and I am simply not in a position to do it.
It has been sitting in my garage, warm and dry for the last 8 years and was filled with clean oil before storage.
It is a runner but not road legal at the moment, having failed the MOT. It came home from the MOT cruising at 70mph on a quiet road. Sadly, it has stayed in my garage since then.
Main reason for the fail was, typical of a P3, corrosion where the chassis joins the monocoque section at the point just forward of the rear wheel arch (see point 1). The other things picked up by the MOT was a dodgy trafficator and poor - but not failed on - brakes. Investigation revealed the reason for the poor brake performance as incorrect assembly, with a spring fitted where it shouldn't be, stopping the self-servo action (see point 3).
An awful lot of work has been done on the car, including a rebuilt engine with a reground crank and new clutch. The freewheel is disconnected. I never used it.
Also included in the sale:
1. All the repair panels necessary, including new sill covers, plus the instructions. They were supplied by the RSR and if memory serves, cost in excess of £800.
2. A complete new wiring harness, made to the original spec with modern materials and using the original loft-boards. There are additional wiring runs built in for indicators and a rear fog light. I will have to find the bill to prove if, or not, I had a reversing light run as well. (CRAFT moment)
3. A set of NOS brake shoes and rivets.
4. Numerous odds and sods but no other major components.
Main requiremnt to get her back on the road? A MIG welder, time and love.
Will
Here's a couple of photos. If anyone wants more, I curretly have a damp and malfunctioning digital camera, so it may take a while but I'll get there.
The asking price is £4800, including the new parts, repair manuals, parts book and Rover anthology.

HI Willum,
Am I right in thinking that you have a set of sill covers for a P3?

If yes, then I am VERY interested. I bought a 1948 P3 from teh New South Wales Rover club late last year and her (her name is Dorothy!) sills are rusted so I need new sills. I need new runners for the sunroof too - you don't happen to have them as well?

So, could you please let me know if the sills are available? I will pay for them including shipping to Australia - how much do you need for the sills?

I'm happy to call you from here if you'd like to give me a phone number :-)

Regards Nei lHenderson Murrumbateman, NSW, Australia
