Luvax - Bijur reservoir fittings finsih

Post by Phil - Nottingham » Sun Oct 19, 2008 10:20 pm

I want to tidy up the pump/reservior on my 1938 16. Whlist I can see the remains of black paint on the fixing bracket and strap that goes round the black jar and the diaphragm case is clearly gloss black. What is the finish of the bottle lid.

It seems this was once just bare or zinc plated steel. Cadmiun plate (gold was not used then as far as I thought) 8-)

The present colour is dark brown bare steel but no real corrosion having been oil coated for probably most of 70 years!

Any ideas please? :?

Mine is painted black but with a certain patina. I did think about repainting it, but I like it as it is. It feels old (like myself)

I have four of these which have never been painted and are dark brown, perhaps plated, with no rust.
