Hello all,
I have been lucky enough in 2011 to acquire both a men's and a ladies Rover bicycle. As they need restoration I would like to know what was the original saddle type. Brooks? Masfield? I believe that original seats along with several other items are not what came with the bicycle when they were new.
Happy New Year to All

Re: Rover Bicycle seat
Hi Dirk,
Happy New Year.
I have a late gents cycle probably from either 1923 or 24 and it was fitted with a Brookes saddle when I got it - I'm almost certain that this was the original. The leather was in quite poor condition so I have replaced it with a new Brookes saddle - I was able to get one which is almost identical, the only difference being that my original was painted and the replacement was chrome. Whilst it is not perfect my cycle is usable (now that I have changed the saddle) so I have decided not to restore it but retain its 'part used' patina!
Regards
Paul
