ROVERS TEDDY BEARS PICNIC 2012
"Brian the AA Teddy Bear was becoming anxious that we had not settled the arrangements for the 2012 Teddy Bears Picnic. However, following his visit to Squerryes Court, Westerham, Kent in December, we are now pleased to confirm that the event is booked to take place there on Sunday the 29th April.
Squerryes Court is a beautiful 17th century manor house which has been the Warde family home since 1731. It is surrounded by 10 acres of attractive and historic gardens. There is a fine collection of Old Master paintings, furniture, porcelain and tapestries all acquired or commissioned by the family in the 18th century. General Wolfe of Quebec was a friend of the family and there are items connected with him in the Wolfe room.
The rally site is on the lawn below the terrace in front of the house and overlooks the lake. It is a truly magnificent setting. This will be the first time that a Rover rally will be held at Squerryes Court, and it may well be the last as the Court will close to the public at the end of 2012. Squerryes Court is just off the A25 at the western end of Westerham village and is 10 minutes from either junction 5 or junction 6 of the M25. You may care to visit the website http://www.squerryes.co.uk The rally site will be open from 11 a.m. and the tearoom which serves snacks and lunches, opens at 11.30 a.m., with the house opening at 12.30 p.m. The event is open to teddies and soft toys of all kinds and Rovers of any age. The Court have kindly agreed that rally goers will pay the group rate of £6.50 per adult and £3 for children aged between 5 and 16, which we will collect on their behalf on your arrival. Dogs on short leads are welcome in the grounds.
There is no need to book in advance and we look forward to welcoming you, your teddies and your Rover at Squerryes Court at 11 a.m. on the day.
