Hello P2 experts.
I'm completely respraying my 39 / 10hp restoration. changing the colour to a lovely Rover maroon from black. The spoked wheels are also being powder coated in maroon.
Can any specialist tell me what colour finish the inner front wings(as seen within the engine compartment) should be please? The bulkhead is maroon.
Also , what authentic finish should the full width bar be which is positioned behind front bumper and carrying it .
Thank you. Peter
Inner front mudguards colour?
Re: Inner front mudguards colour?
I have seen quite a number of 46-47 Rovers, and these colours were always black. You can watch some pictures here:

Thank you for the enlightening images. Your 10hp shows the bulkhead black with maroon body which is not how they were originally finished. The bulkhead on Rover cars of this age were same as body colour so I'm not sure about the inner wings being black as you suggest and will await another forum contributor about this.
Thank you , Peter

Re-thinking on the bulkhead colour I think you are right. It is plausible that the whole car body had been painted in a single session, using the same paint.
However, 1946 Rovers had only one colour: black. No wonder that I lived under the impression that the bulkhead is always black...

Re: Inner front mudguards colour?
I can confirm that the body colour should be used on the inner wings, the front horizontal harmonic stabiliser spring blade ( which sits behind the front bumper ) is black.

Chris
Thanks for this . I will get the inners sprayed Maroon
Incidentally, the wire wheels I have painted maroon also . Had them powder sprayed (grit blast cleaned initially) which has made a really superb finish and worth the £35 per wheel. They do really look like new 1939 !
Thank you again . Peter
