wheel bearings
On checking my car ready for the new season I found the front wheel bearings needed a little adjustment, to my shock the so called restorer of my tourer has left off the lock nuts and tabs to secure the bearings. That bloke is a total bodger, people beware if he tries to sell another bodged restoration.

Re: wheel bearings
Was this work done by a professional company? , if so we need to know. However, I understand you not wanting to name them in the post for fear of legal repercussions.
No problem in getting the tab washers, they're available from several sources, including myself.

Re: wheel bearings
I got some lock nuts and the tab washers from Meteor spares, posted very quickly too. Not restored buy a company but by a man from Cumbria, this list of bodges is getting longer.
Thank for the reply.

Re: wheel bearings
I can advise that there is also a ' bodger ' here in the South of England...avoid like the plague.

Re: wheel bearings
Did you buy the car direct from the alleged bodger, or from a third party like a dealer who should have guaranteed the car and checked such things, in which case should you not complain to them? Just a thought.

Re: wheel bearings
The car came from a dealer in Malton, North Yorkshire and I believe selling for the owner. The car came with 3 months warranty but as time goes on and the car gets looked at more and more these things keep appearing, to leave lock nuts off the front bearings is not good in any ones book without the other things I have had to do in the last 2 years. Most of which, as you state should have been checked before it left the dealer.
I made a huge mistake of not looking at the car but relied on 20+ photo's and conversations with the dealer.
After I had the car delivered I phoned and said, if I had of viewed the car the price would not have been paid or it would not have been bought.
Most of the work has been done but there is always something more to do.
