My clock & speedo both have a solid gung around the glass after a struggle I managed to lift the 4 tangs and remove the glass, the glass has another metal ring and this is very rusty. I intend to clean up all the parts and assemble using black RTV. Is this the best method or has anyone done this in a different way.

Re: Clock & Speedo
Ok so I now have all the gung off it was like tar removed it with a soak in white spirit, unfortunately this took the black paint off but it then came to mind that brass bezel could look nice or would this be a no no. Plus I would have to do all the other gauges.
Re: Clock & Speedo
I've got the clock out of mine at the moment. It was losing about 10 minutes an hour even when it was set on it's highest speed. I'm giving the mechanism a good clean which may or may not fix the problem. I shall also repaint the brass bezel as the black is flaking off in places.
Cheers
